For my 20th birthday I celebrated with a crazy challange in the harsh Mackay heat. I set out to film a wakeboard edit consisting of 20 of my favourite tricks, however many laps it took me to make the edit I ran the same distance around the lake barefoot (hint, more than a marathon)

There are many different roles on a documentary film...
you can use this experience to leverage yourself into the industry, gain knowledge to make films yourself and help get an important story out there.

This is the early stage of the film, this process starts from the initial idea spark to the shoot on set.
This is the time where the shoot commences.
This is the editing stage of the production, where if all things go well the film will be distributed.

Grip/ Runner - show up on day - can be on set for as little as a half day or entire 8 day shoot.
Filler talent - show up on day.
2nd AC - little revision show up on day - can be on set for as little as a half day or entire 8 day shoot.
Stills Photographer - show up on day, can be on set for as little as a half day or entire 8 day shoot.
Art designer (post) - As little or as much effort as you would like to put in.
social media reformer - Have to know how to edit - As much or as little time to as you want.
Costume designer - show up in a few meetings (can be online) typically 1 day for planning and sourcing costumes.
Hair and makeup & costume coordinator - typically on set for entire 8 day shoot.
Set designer - show up in a few meetings (can be online) typically on set entire 8 day shoot unless not required.
Artist - Through the entire project, show up in a few meetings (can be online) mainly a pre prod and post prod, deliver drawings or digital assets.
Colourist - typically a 1 - 3 day job depending on experience.
Sound designer - Typically a 2 - 4 day job depending on experience.
1st AC - On set for entire 8 day shoot with little rehearsal, meetings and research.
Production manager - typically on set for entire shoot with engagement in pre production
Talent - this varies.
Writer - Pre Production - the initial processes of the project -
Editor - Entire project - has a say in the script, shotlist and overall outcome on the film. (required to data rangle on set)
DOP - Entire project - in charge of cam department. Has a say in the picture of the film, script, colour, sound and edit
Director - Entire project - Everyone is working to make this persons story come to life
Producer - from budgeting to management to distrubution plan, the producer works around the clock.
Assuming this is a 1 day per week shoot over two months - total 8 days
You do not need to have an prior experience in these roles. the purpose of helping is to learn, if you are dedicated to learn the skill then i will try my best to teach it
